Why there are still so many 余秋雨 in China by xpt June 12, 2008 余秋雨 is just one of the pop icons in modern China. His rise has lot to do with how the social system operates. In China, you have absolutely no chance of any chance to become "famous" if you speak out or write up your own thinking. On the contrary, if stay neutral, talking love and making absolutely nothing-to-do soap opera, you can live and live really well. If you speak out loudly to flatter the establishment and praise the government policy and pamper the officials, you are guaranteed to share the fame and wealth from the government, as Mr. 余秋雨 does. People like Mr. 余秋雨 have never had the conscience of "questioning" and "analyzing" the officials and their doing. They already lost their ability to think independently and become the parasites. The sad thing about this is that those people, many of them, still live and dominate the stage of China's culture and art stage. And they can still use their "fame" and "glory" to woo and deceive many people, especially the young people. There are only two outcomes for those people. One is to eliminate them by others; the other is to let them die by the old age. However, with the rapid accumulation of wealth and the good care provided by the CCP government to them, these people will not disappear soon as we wish them. So China will be still under their torture and rape for a long time to come...
